Costa de la Luz flavours
Gastronomy of Zahara de los Atunes
Almadraba red tuna, fried pescaito and beach bars facing the Atlantic: eating in Zahara is part of the trip.
Zahara's cooking mixes seafaring tradition and Atlantic produce. At Nuestra Zahara we invite you to try almadraba tuna in season, pescaito and beach terraces, always with Costa de la Luz blue in the background. Ask for the catch of the day and follow what is freshest.
Almadraba red tuna
The Costa de la Luz is almadraba country. In season (spring), red tuna reaches local kitchens fresh: grilled, as tartare or in traditional dishes. Ask which cut is available that day.
- In high season book ahead, especially lunch and weekends.
- Ask for the cut and preparation of the day.
- Pair with a sunset walk on the beach.
Pescaito and local catch
Fried pescaito — anchovies, squid, small fish — is an Andalusian classic by the sea. A shared plate with lemon and a cold beer sums up Zahara's pace. You will also find grilled fish and seafood by season.
- Ideal at sunset after a beach day.
- Ask what came in fresh that morning.
- Share plates to taste more flavours.
Beach bars and sea terraces
Zahara and Atlanterra beach bars are perfect between swims: informal tables, Atlantic views and simple cooking. Village terraces also offer vermouth, salads and fish without leaving the sea breeze behind.
- In July–August arrive early or book if you can.
- Look for sea-view tables at dusk.
- Combine food with a slow promenade walk.
